Kevin Tydlacka

I've been aware of the power of connection for as long as I can remember. My parents had a lot to do with it; they were an unusual and vibrant combination. My mom grew up an island girl in Key West, FL, and my dad was raised on a hog farm in a tiny central Texas town. They raised us out in a 2 story cedar house in the East Texas pine forest without TV (gasp). A funny thing happens when you turn a house and 13 acres of idyllic woods over to 4 kids whose primary defense against boredom is raw creativity and energy…you create moments that you’ll remember forever. As you string more and more of those moments together, they begin to shape you. The roots we put down in that house and land formed us as much as we formed them. It wasn’t perfect, and sometimes it was messy. But there was a magic to it. It was real. There was a connection to both people & place.

I’ve found myself in many different places, connected to many different people over the years. I moved from East Texas to DFW to go to college at The University of Texas at Dallas, where I graduated with honors and a degree in Chemistry. I met my incredible wife, Brittany, at UTD in a college ministry we were both heavily involved in. We got married and migrated south to Austin where I worked for Samsung, manufacturing computer chips for Apple. Then we followed a passion of ours to Nashville to pursue a music career. Let me tell you some stories about that sometime. The music industry was QUITE the experience. Some truly incredible people and places. And some truly crazy ones. We moved back to Denton County to be closer to family and now have two sweet girls of our own. After I satisfied my inner artist in Nashville, the nerd in me wanted some attention, so I taught myself how to code and spent 10 years in a one-of-a kind role in the app industry on a 3-person team that experienced astonishing growth & success. The last 4 of those were at a company that I Co-Founded and served at as the CTO.

It was a rich and rewarding entrepreneurial dream, but I felt my connection to people and place diminishing. After a sabbatical, I saw that one of the best ways I could reconnect to people and place is by helping others connect to theirs. Everything I do is people-centered and data-informed. I bridge the gap between contracts, project management, finances, feelings, relationships, and business. People that have worked with me tell me I’m organized, effective, and an outstanding communicator. I’ve spent over 600 hours and tens of thousands of dollars on personal, relational, and professional development. I negotiate assertively and kindly. I’m flexible and creative. I leverage technology to make everything easier and more enjoyable. If I had a superpower, it would be learning. I am always learning and finding/creating the best resources possible for my clients. I work hard like I was raised, but the best part is that I get to play at work.

I never stopped seeing the world through that lens of connection. In each place I’ve lived, I’ve found wonder and joy in nurturing powerful connections to the place itself and the people I found there. Every home I’ve bought was a treasure hunt. Every space I built or modified, an adventure. Every acre of unimproved land that I own, a canvas. I love shaping the world around me so that it serves the needs and desires of my family for the season we are in, and I love helping others do the same. I love connecting people & places.
